They are sexy, they are engaging, they are angry, they embarrass war mongers, they protect our troops, they care — Oh! And they are HOT BABY. Our friends at Code Pink – Women for Peace got a nice write up in the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday.
And believe me, I never want to get them thinking that I'm not for peace. I couldn't not handle the pressure. Luckily, most of the Senators who voted for invading Iraq back in 2003 can't handle the pressure either.
Disclosure: I have supported Code Pink with donations. I have am not against war in all contexts. I am only against wars not worth the violence and economic cost. Politicians looking for power always underestimate the suffering and cost that violence creates among soldiers and civilians on both sides. I support living in a country with a military that is strong enough to deter wars and violence. I do not believe in using that military without respect and forethought for those who have chosen to serve. I have never been in the military but my family has a long history of service and I grew up fascinated with the stories my dad and grandfathers would tell.
